Role of the Child Care Reviewer
Child Care Reviewers are professional volunteer reviewers with a background in service delivery or administration in the child care field. They are trained on the Effectiveness Rating and Improvement System (ERIS) standards and have extensive knowledge and experience related to child development. The majority of Child Care Reviewers are experienced COA volunteer reviewers. The Child Care Reviewers dedicate many hours to ensure that each site visit is conducted in the most professional and comprehensive manner. In addition to the interviews they conduct on site, Child Care Reviewers spend significant time becoming familiar with the program prior to the site visit.
Child Care Reviewers are recruited from the following groups of professionals:
- Child care professionals from civilian and military programs;
- Members of professional child care associations;
- Faculty of schools of social work with expertise in child care; and
- Managers or Directors of organizations that provide child care services.
