When a rating indicator does not describe an exact situation at the program, the child care reviewer will assign the rating that most closely captures the program’s response to the standard.
Assignment of Ratings
The child care reviewer uses professional judgment and information gathered from the ERIS submission and the site visit to rate compliance of the standards. The child care reviewer's ratings on all applicable standards are based on:
- ERIS documentation;
- program and facility observations;
- observations of staff/child interactions;
- documentation provided on site; and
- interviews with staff and parents, as applicable.
Achieving Approved Provider Status
A program must ultimately receive the following ratings in order to achieve Approved Provider Status:
- "1" on all mandatory section standards; and
- “1” or “2” on all other section standards
